“Tell me again how you punched a dragon to get your magic hand.”

Keeping in mind that I've only seen two of the shows that led into this, so there were probably some nuances about the ongoing subplots that I missed. (And apparently all of the introduction of the main villains.) I probably should have read the wiki summaries or something. Oh, well. I managed.

While I suspect the decision to keep the series to eight episodes was a pragmatic cost issue, I think it limited the amount of filler / unnecessary twists they had to load in, and that's a good thing. That said, they still could have done without a few of the repetitive / redundant conversations. This is eight episodes intended to be marathoned; viewers aren't going to forget episode two when they're watching episode five.

Angsty idiot white boy Danny Rand didn't win my heart at all. Perhaps he could just gift the magic hand to his competent sidekick Colleen, who actually gets character development? I mean, I give him credit for attempting to use his money and influence to fight the Hand, though the fact that he walks into their board room to gloat and get into a fight kinda ruins that. Then he repeatedly make decisions that put him at odds with the other heroes and give the Hand exactly what they want.

I wish that fewer of the awesome fight scenes were in shadows or blue-filtered darkness. They got rather hard to follow when there were a dozen participants and you can barely even see Daredevil's bright red outfit.

Jessica and Luke both seem to have gotten stronger since their earliest appearances, and I'm wondering if that's going to stick for the second season of Jessica Jones. (I do appreciate them remembering for the last episode that Jessica can sorta-kinda fly.)

Overall: I kinda wish they could have cut the drama and upped the snark in a couple of places; and this was an interim piece the same way Age of Ultron and Civil War were, even if it was a better-organized one. It's fun and doesn't feel stretched the way the other series do, but it also lacks some of the pathos because we can't concentrate on any one part.
