A Curious Happy Meal
Apr. 30th, 2015 08:05 pmARR loves McDonald’s—as many small children do—and he’ll usually get to go once or twice a month with either Papa and Gramma or with me. (The fact that a hamburger happy meal is on the short list of fast food that’s completely safe for him to eat doesn’t hurt our willingness to take him. The poor kid still can’t eat pizza unless it’s homemade with soy cheese.) He requested stopping on the way home on Monday, and as he was very patient with my errands and had just started in the “potty club” at daycare, I acquiesced.
While he technically should still be getting the “under three” toys, he’s mature enough that I never worry about him with the standard ones, so I told him to look at the display and pick if he wanted a robot or a pony (the toy choices were Transformers and My Little Pony). He eventually chose a robot.
I was irritated when we got home and opened the toy, because this set of “transformers” does not, in any way, transform. They’re just cartoony robot action figures. ARR likes his just fine, but I was annoyed.
It was Jethrien who noted that the MLP toy line that was his other option was half Equestria Girls figures. Which meant he really had the choice between a Tranformer that didn’t transform, and a My Little Pony that was not, in fact, a pony.
