“I don’t need to take a nap.”
Mar. 17th, 2015 08:56 pmSo, as Jethrien noted, ARR appears to be sick again—while it may still turn into his third ear infection since the tubes fell out (new tubes go in next Friday; “Baby’s Second Surgery”), it seems to just be a bad cold with a slight fever. He’s had a runny nose…well, all winter, really, as he is his father’s son; but it’s been worse for the last few days. I kept him home yesterday, though he seems to be doing better since Sunday, even with this morning’s debacle.
On Saturday he didn’t nap at all, instead opting to alternate singing to his monkey and whining for daddy to come rescue him. We had friends visiting that afternoon, whose similarly-aged son has picked up “I need that” as the phrase of choice. On Sunday, he was clearly testing out “need” alongside his usual, “I don’t like that” regarding foods and videos that he doesn’t want right at that moment.
Yesterday, on our way home from seeing the doctor and getting lunch, I told him we would go take a nap and then go to the library afterwards. He replied, "I don't need to take a nap." Full sentence, VERY clearly enunciated. Boy knows how to demand what he wants.
(He was wrong. He barely managed two minutes of yowling before he was out.)
