Level 1: Pass.

I'm one third of the way to being a CFA Charterholder!

I'll allow for a day or so of bouncing and giddiness before I start worrying about level 2.

Congratulations! However, I must point out that "1" is a number, not a word. Just FYI :-P

Now, are you going to be able to get any work done this morning, or are you just going to be bouncing in your chair and humming to yourself? :)

From: [identity profile] chuckro.livejournal.com
I've actually gotten some work done, and there's been relatively little humming, so I think I'm okay.

Hoo-ray! Now you're 1/3 closer to doing my taxes for me, right?

::crickets::

Hello?

Seriously, congrats!

I could do your taxes for you now. They're not that hard. I'm 1/3 closer to managing your investments for you.

Or, if you're actually serious about wanting someone to do your taxes, my father (who is an accountant) would probably only charge you a pittance to do them.

Wow, people who know tax stuff--and it runs in your family! I feel bad that I have no ability with it given that my dad is basially a tax and bank lawyer (some such like that).

Thanks for the offer, but chances are good I'm looking at a like $3-400 rebate this year anyway, so I'll just keep using the free turbo-tax through the IRS (it's sad, but if you earn under a certain amount a year, you can use it for free---woo having no money!).

Everyone should learn how to do their own taxes.

Don't get sucked in by ads like those from H&R Block promising you a chance to win prizes. You're paying them for the opportunity to charge you an exhorbitant amount to fill out a form you can do yourself!

You don't need a tax accountant unless you are selling depreciated farm equipment that has been subsidized by the FDA, trying to get a credit for removing an underground oil tank from your property, or claiming your lawn as a dependent. (It would die without you!)

I wanna claim my lawn as a dependent!

...wait, I don't have a lawn.

Can I claim my houseplants as dependents? I have an orchid, an African violet, an ivy, a pointsetta, and three paperwhite bulbs.

This is especially high praise coming from the soon-to-be-official Dr. Chris. And I suspect you've done significantly more work to earn that.
