Jay, Wally, Allen, Kyle, Mal, Jim, Stephanie and Barbara are or were all superheroes. Half of them were active during the Golden Age, and half during the modern age. Each Golden Age hero shares the same superhero codename as one of the modern heroes.

The four codenames are The Light, Mr. Excellent, Green Dragon, and Badger-Man. Who are the four modern heroes, and who are the golden age ones?

1. Stephanie and Barbara, the two women, would never take superhero names that implied they were men.
2. Wally and Kyle were/are good friends who often fight/fought crime together. They were also friends with their generation's The Light.
3. Kyle made up his codename himself. He didn't realize until later that Jim had previously used it.
4. Jay passed his superhero mantle down to his granddaughter, Barbara, who took his name.
5. Allen quit heroics when his wife found out he was Green Dragon, which allowed someone else to take the name.
6. Mal was bitten by a radioactive badger. Yeah, you can all guess where that led.

I'm going to work it in just a moment, but I'll note that while the choice of hero-names was good, using the names of well-known heroes might have been a confusing choice.

The thing about "well known" is that it's a relative term. Most people wouldn't recognize any hero "real names" other that Clark, Bruce, Diana, Peter, or Logan. That, and you try coming up with names that aren't attached to at least one or two superheroes already.

In all truth, by that standard, most people wouldn't recognize "Logan". And Diana, frankly, is a stretch too.

So why did Wally think "Badger-Man" was a good idea, then?

Because he got his powers from the ancient Mayan badger totem that he discovered. Duh.
