What's the point of posting something online if you don't intend for other people to read it? And for that matter, what's the point of posting someplace like Livejournal if you don't want people to respond/comment?

I think I'm taking to this much more as a forum for discussion than anyone's private journal. But hey, what do I know? I've always been one for making things into what I want them to be, rather than what they necessarily are.

Well, since you can private-lock your journal that means that only you will be able to read it in future. I know some people do this as a bonafide diary sort of thing, and some people use it as a portable hard drive for fic they are working. I've never seen the point.
