A Netflix Backlog Cull

chuckro13 Reasons Why (Netflix, Season 2) - I had tentative plans to watch this for a while, as I did think the first season did some brilliant things, but I was worried that they couldn’t maintain what made it work and the reviews seemed to confirm that. I read the episode synopsis and decided that the unrelenting misery of the story was not something I needed in my life.
The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina (Netflix, Season 1) - The Satanists are ridiculously over-the-top evil Satanists and this is a dark comedy in a bunch of ways, but I think ultimately it has the same problem Riverdale had for me, that I wanted goofy Archie adventures, not horror/drama with an Archie facade. (The fact that Melissa Joan Hart never cameos should have been a tip-off, really.) I applaud their attempts at social justice and was amused by the Sandman Cain-and-Abel thing Zelda and Hilda have going, but that’s not enough to get me through another eight hours of it.
Everything Sucks (Netflix, Season 1) - While the “90s flashback” concept is intriguing, I knew going in that there was a big risk it would be awkward and forced. And yeah, I made it through half an episode before I just couldn’t take it. The dialogue is awkward and the situations aren’t smart enough to be clever or absurd enough to be funny. I’m better off watching classic 90s movies that actually do this well.
