Even more continued adventures of Jake Peralta and the detectives of the 9-9. Which are still funny.

The three Florida episodes work much better than the Vulture ones at the beginning of S3, I think—even out of their element, they give Holt and Peralta plenty to do and manage to jam in some delightful social commentary while they're at it. Also, Holt pretending to be straight is hilarious.

I wasn't wild about Pimento as a character following his return, because they didn't really have much to add to him—he stayed kind of as “one-note crazy guy”. I'm not surprised that he fades out after the wedding episode.

Watching the series so close together, I notice that the “Gina's craziness/hidden brilliance saves the day” punchline is fairly common, and I think even more so in this season.

They love their cliffhanger season endings, don't they? I mean, at this point, we know everything will be resolved neatly in the first few episodes of the next season and we'll get the status quo back, but man. They just can't resist dragging out the tension.

I don't have any actual data to support this, but I'm going to guess that both the pregnancy-belly storyline with Amy in S3 and the Gina pregnancy plotline (and her propensity for baggy shirts before it's revealed) were because of the actresses' real-life pregnancies. Which I suppose is better than hiding them behind desks and grocery bags for half a season.

Also: “Eight-drink Amy is an equestrian. A bad one.”

Overall: Do I try to catch up to current on season 5, or just wait until it's over and I can get the whole thing? (Yes, I know about the Rosa arc—I was spoiled by Tumblr.)
