The movie's Hal is mostly Hal Jordan, with a splash of Kyle and a shot of Guy. He's not nearly as incoherant as the trailers make him out to be. I don't think Reynolds would have been my first choice, but he did a nice job of it.

Carol is competant, useful, and totally someone I'd like to see as Star Sapphire in a sequel, should that be in the cards. (Also, the scene where he comes to her balcony is totally the best in the movie.)

The green energy was a little more "whispy" that I'd have liked in many places. Also, the alien landscapes look a bit more "cartoony" than Thor's Asgard did. But the CGI was really nice in most places, and the Green Lanterns randomly crackling with energy worked.

The movie has a beginning, a middle and an end. They use pretty much everything they introduce. The villians pretty much all make sense within the context of the story, though they dump a whole bunch of comics canon out to do it (which I don't particularly mind).

Overall, I'd put it better than the Fantastic Four movies and in-line with Iron Man 2.

...A giant green boxing glove would have pushed it over the line, mind you.

Well, since I didn't like Iron Man 2... Higher or lower than Daredevil?

Definitely higher. That's really not much of a bar to clear.

Agreed on the "Hal is Hal, with a touch of Kyle and Guy" - I was appreciative of that. And I really liked what they did with Carol, especially the "I've known you for decades. REALLY?!" crack.
