Totally Random Things
Jun. 15th, 2016 05:46 pm- Eating less and still managing to be a pleasant person is much, much easier when I’m getting full nights of sleep, which I was lucky enough to get for a few nights last week while ARR was staying with my parents. (For everything else, there’s caffeine.)
- Not that my mother-in-law is a slouch, either. I’ve managed to get all sorts of chores done in the evenings Monday and today, and she picked us up take-out from Hamilton Pork yesterday. And that was after full days of running ARR around the park, Liberty Science Center, the library, and our house.
- Also yesterday, I took ARR to the ENT for his check-up, and his ear tubes had come out. (This was pretty much on the expected schedule.) This means he doesn’t need ear plugs for baths or swimming, which is great given that his summer camp includes swim days. He also had a big kid hearing test, which involves repeating a lot of words and throwing a Lego into a box when you heard a beep. (His hearing is perfect. His listening…is at age-level.) Given how incredibly patient and well-behaved he was, I agreed to his request for McDonald’s on the way home.
- I had an EKG at my regular checkup today; my heart is fine. Bloodwork is pending. Also, tomorrow I’m getting my eyes checked. It’s a doctor-heavy week.
- I’m in the process of booking up summer plans. SO MANY SUMMER PLANS.
- I think I may have to back off of Facebook, possibly until November—someone I know from high school, who REALLY should know better, seems to think that a Trump presidency will somehow reduce tragedies like in Orlando. And I’m not engaging—no good comes of that—but politics is overtaking cute baby pictures on my feed despite my best efforts and I think I need to step away.
- I got my C.H.I.P., which I’m still trying to get working properly with my preferred setup. Flashing the bios is proving more difficult than expected. More details as I actually play with the thing.
