The front wheel was stolen off my bike.

I had locked it to the front railing instead of bringing it inside, but because of the shape of things, I only locked it through the frame, rather than the frame and the wheel like I do to bike racks. And somebody apparently came along and popped of the wheel and walked off with it.

I fumed a bit, called the police and filed a report, then lugged the bike to the shop and got a new wheel. And a latch system for the wheels and seat that makes them impossible to remove without my key. (I'm not bothering with an insurance claim, obviously, because it's nowhere near my deductible and they'd bump up my rates for making a claim, so that would only cost me money.) I'm annoyed, but in the grand scheme of things it was an inconvenience.

Really, the victim here is ARR, because he really wanted Daddy today, and this meant several breaks when he had to settle for mommy instead. But he got carnival rides, crab cake, vegan muffins and french fries. I think he'll get over it.

I very briefly thought that ARR's little razor scooter had been stolen from the playground this evening. It wasn't where we left it and I didn't see it anywhere. Fortunately, when I picked Alex up so I could search quickly, he spotted it--up on top of the playground. Another little boy had appropriated it, dragged it up there, and looked like he was about to try to ride it down the slide. I had some stern words for him about asking permission, but the scooter was retrieved and all was well.
