DC Trip and Staycation assorted notes
Aug. 15th, 2015 01:20 pmI think Jethrien beat me to most of the important and noteworthy bits of the past week: We went to DC and saw her folks, ARR liked the farm and museum but LOVED the train set, we saw my old friend Rabbi M and her husband and daughter and got to see their house, we did a food tour in Queens and tried two more local restaurants, and I got a decent amount of sleep and a lot of reading/gaming time. (I've gotten through most of Ys Origin and expect to be posting on that soon.)
Random other notes:
- We thought ARR had fallen asleep in the car, until we pulled into a rest stop and from the dark a little voice said, "I'm not sleeping! Hahahahaha!"
- I paid real money for the initial stack of D&D comics, then a Humble Bundle with almost all of them and more popped up. Which made me feel a little like a chump, but at least it gets me the later volumes of all the books.
- I'm way behind on a lot of random mini-reviews: I haven't gotten around to writing anything about a bunch of movies, trade paperbacks and Android games; and that may be waiting until next week. Jethrien covered the food/restaurant stuff, but the one takeaway I'll add was that while a bunch of the food was too spicy for me and I didn't like butter tea, I really like the food tour experience. I have a bunch of random Indian groceries to play with over the next few weeks.
- Fyrna came over for dinner on Thursday, which was quite lovely. ARR immediately took to her and even requested she read him a bedtime book. And then he tried to sneak downstairs to see her after bedtime.
- ARR was able to tolerate a fair amount of egg with no ill effects at dinner last night. In the next few months we need to get him retested, but this is a very good sign.
