Graze Box Review #8
May. 13th, 2015 05:53 pmRaspberry and Coconut Muffin – Almonds, amaretti cookies, raspberry-infused cranberries, coconut. Between the “amaretto” and almonds, this reminds me much more of a fancy biscotti than any kind of muffin. But I’m cool with that. This is a tasty trail mix variant.
Hickory Smoked BBQ – BBQ dried peas, corn nuts, smoked cashews. Nice smokiness and good crunch to it. Another nice “tasty and different” one.
Soy Roasted Seeds – Sunflower and pumpkin seeds; this has the same problems as the other seed mix of being really hard to eat. It’s saltier and a little more flavorful from the soy sauce, but still has that problem.
Tropical Daiquiri – I’ve had this before. Still good!
Box #9 is all repeats: Wholegrain Banana Caramel Dippers (meh), Lightly Salted Popcorn (fine, whatever), Herby Bread Basket (decent), and Chocolate Pecan Pie (yay!). I’m debating about cancelling before Box #10 arrives; I think the novelty of this may have run its course. We’ll see.
In general (having tried something like 30 of their products now), I think the trail mix variants are good and often inventive; the “flapjacks” are fun but not significantly better than granola bars I can buy in stores; the seeds are too much trouble; and the dippers are generally disappointing. And while I suspect some people appreciate their portion sizes, my insane metabolism has always found them a bit small.
