Random Comedy Shows

Having burned through most of our DVD backlog recently, Jethrien and I were poking around Amazon Prime Streaming the other night looking for things that might be fun that we hadn’t seen before. I figured it might be worth hitting early episodes of things people have been talking about:

Parks and Recreation – It’s like a Christopher Guest movie, just as a TV show. Funny, but seemed likely to get excruciating over the course of multiple episodes. (I suspect, like with Big Bang Theory, I’d want someone who’s a fan to point me towards a best-of selection that I could better judge.)

Broad City – I had seem one five-minute clip of this that was cute, but didn’t quite realize that gross-out/embarrassment humor of the type that makes Jethrien’s skin crawl was pretty much their entire schtick. We didn’t make it through a whole episode.

Brooklyn 99 – Wasn’t actually available for free, they just have “sneak preview” episodes. No, thanks.

So yeah, then we watched DS9. Because watching terrible things happen to O’Brien never gets old.

Let’s Play!

Some folks might remember the slew of Let’s Plays I put up on Talking Time over the course of 2013. I finally got some time together to put up another one from my Game Boy youth: Let’s Play Metroid 2: The Return of Samus.

(The big advantage to Game Boy games is that even when taking screenshots and writing notes, when playing through the game takes three hours or less, there’s only so much of a time-sink the LP can be.)
