The CRPG Addict played Don’t Go Alone, and used my FAQ/Walkthrough! I feel strangely flattered and like putting it together eight years ago was worthwhile. Kinda like the rush I get every time someone comments on the Chrono Trigger: Crimson Echoes FAQ page, I feel like I’m actually contributing to the internet ecosystem and providing a useful service.

I’ll note, he didn’t like the game, but I can’t really blame him there: It’s not that good a game. I suspect that without the nostalgia filter / fascination I would never have gotten more than twenty minutes into it. A few of the things he complained about (low difficulty level, lack of obtuse puzzles) are things I wouldn’t necessarily see as problems, but it’s still a largely-repetitive dungeon crawler with some questionable design decisions.

This gives me a new impetus to try to get the Call of Cthulhu module based on it finished, illustrated and up on Lulu. And maybe to play the game again and update the FAQ—I should at least add that monsters on Level 7 can drop gold keys, which provides a slightly less “cheating” path to the ending than my method.
