From [livejournal.com profile] jethrien:
List seven songs you are into right now. No matter what the genre, whether they have words, or even if they're not any good, but they must be songs you're really enjoying now. Post these instructions in your livejournal along with your seven songs. Then tag seven other people to see what they're listening to.

"Let It Whip" - SR-71 (The New Guy soundtrack)
The movie was a dumb, pretty standard teen gross-out comedy. But for some reason, it had an awesome soundtrack, including this kickass rock/dance track (apparently a Boyz II Men cover, but I've never heard the original).

"Change Your Mind" - Sister Hazel
I first heard this years ago when Dan Johnson did it at a Campus karaoke night. I borrowed my sister's Sister Hazel collection shortly thereafter, and this quickly became one of my favorite songs to sing at karaoke (because it's so nicely suited to a tenor voice, and because it's such an excellent sentiment).

"Whenever, Whatever" - Shakira
The class of '02's Campus Club thesis phrase came from this song: "So you don't confuse them with mountains."

"Two Princes" - Spin Doctors
I remember hearing this song in middle school, when Spin Doctors were hot and I was just getting into pop music. I also have an acappella version of it.

"The Old Apartment" - Barenaked Ladies
The Rock Spectacle version is far superior--I like live tracks in general better than studio tracks, because I don't have a good enough ear to catch all of the musical issues, but the energy and emotion tend to be hyped up significantly.

"I'm Still Here" - Johnny Rezenik
Sammi had me download it to put on a mix CD for her. I acquired a number of interests that way--my sister has good taste.

"Hanging By A Moment" - Lifehouse
Another karaoke favorite. Also a statement I can easily identify with.

So, while Jethrien was off having her bridal shower, I went out to visit my dad. For those of you who don't read my sister's LJ, she and my mother are touring Europe right now, so my dad and I were doing the bachelor thing. Of course, we ate particularly well for bachelor boys, as I made breakfast burritos Saturday morning and grilled pork chops with mango salsa that evening. My father followed up with bacon and eggs Sunday morning, and we went out to the diner for late lunch/early dinner.

The big project for the weekend was sorting the comic collection, which it's been about two years since I last did (and probably three and a half since I've done in full depth). We sorted and bagged everything, and cleared out a lot of pamphlets that had since been collected in TPB or hardbound. We now have nearly-complete runs of JLA, JSA, Lucifer and Y: The Last Man, along with a lot of other assorted books to get rid of. If you're interested in them, make me an offer.

The rest of the time was spent lounging by the pool and just generally spending "quality time" with my dad. Which is cool, because I like my dad, and don't see that much of him nowadays.
