More goofy things people say

In case you haven't wasted enough time on Not Always Right or Overheard in New York, there's Crazy Things Parents Text.

...This makes it seem like a good thing my mother can barely make her voicemail work and doesn't even try to text, actually.

My mother recently started texting. She texted me to let me know my parents were getting on the cruise ship, for instance, and...oh god, she uses txtspk. LIke "gr8."

It BURNSES US.

If my mother starts texting, I suspect it'll be a sign she was replaced by a pod person.

Other signs your mother has ignored Kevin McCarthy's warning:
1. The refrigerator is empty. The freezer, too.
2. She has pierced ears, two holes in both ears.
3. She warms a stool at Joe's Bar rather than a balcony seat at the newest performance of Hamlet at Roundabout.
4. She buys a Kindle. And uses it.

I could believe the Kindle before any of the others. You'd need my sister to switch books for you, but besides that...

What will get me is approaching old age: I'll need the large type. And I detest audio books.
But the Kindle/Nooks are so un-bookish. They don't make spine-cracking noises. They don't feel bookish. They don't smell bookish. I love book smell.
And the Charlie Chan bio is excellent, btw.

I will admit, I was expecting this to be a lot more of parents being clueless. I'm rather pleased to find that most people are proudly posting their parents being clever and witty.

aaaaand this crashed my computer. Twice.

Sorry about that. Mine was fine with it.

Got home to discover Norton had stopped Internet Explorer from working, though. Takes all the joy out of getting out of class early when you have to use that time to fix your computer.
